Who We Are

Britney Allen Jones, Founder and CEO of The Chad Lake Foundation (CLF) is a previously incarcerated individual who has been directly impacted by addiction and the criminal justice system in many ways.  Britney's father, Charles Lee Allen died in 2011 at the age of 42 while incarcerated.  Britney's brother, Chad Lake Raymond died on Mother's Day (May 9, 2021) at 31 years old due to the medical negligence of the prison he was in for years.

Chad suffered from substance use disorder (SUD), also known as addiction. Chad was not privileged enough to have been offered services to help with this disorder because he was in prison for almost 10 years and treatment is not an option for most inmates. Many people have no compassion for someone who uses drugs and so often, people are punished for using drugs. Chad died from a completely treatable disease.

Britney and her family have turned their pain into passion and created this non-profit organization to help raise awareness on the injustices occurring inside the prison walls, promote education on the disease concept of addiction, reduce the stigma associated with SUD, and help to reduce recidivism by developing and implementing programs to help individuals achieve and maintain sobriety inside and outside prison walls. Providing the appropriate resources to inmates before their release could help reduce recidivism and successfully reintegrate these individuals back into their communities as productive members of society.
